YOUNG HORSE DAY 1

Begin by pulling the flag out of barrier and use it to rub over the horse. It’s the same as a colt trainer would do with the flag or the plastic bag.

Get on and ride through. Most young horses that have been started with a flag will immediately have no problem.  Others may take slightly longer.

Now, my young horse is on the way to being barrier broke and has never followed cattle out of box yet.

Lead them through a couple times without letting it touch the horse. Then lead them through and do let it touch them.
